The South Carolina GMB is a new branch covering IWW members who live or work in the Palmetto State. From the Weavers who shut down Monaghan Mills in 1914, to the Incarcerated Workers who shut down state prisons in 2016, the history of IWW organizing in South Carolina may not be well-known to the greater world, but it is known to us—and it forms a rich core upon which we are compelled to build. We formed this branch in solidarity with those and all class struggles here and internationally—to improve conditions for every worker and promote the interests of the entire working class. We organize workers across the state without regard to race, gender, disability, nationality, ethnicity, creed, sexual orientation, age or religion, and fight to eliminate all forms of injustice, bigotry and discrimination both on and off the job.
